Italy’s Amalfi Coast

Whether you arrive in Naples, Italy via train, ship or plane, you may not want to spend time in the city itself. Fortunately, some of Italy’s most stunning villages lie nearby along the Amalfi Coast. Two of the most celebrated of these villages include Positano and Sorrento.

Positano

Positano is a victim of its own success. Arrive after June and you will have a hard time finding room to stand much less eat and enjoy the wonderful narrow streets and beaches. If, however, you can time your visit, this village is absolutely charming.

Sorrento

Should I visit Capri? That’s often the first question when planning a visit to Sorrento. While Capri is beautiful and the blue grottos are dramatic, that answer depends on time, weather and one’s propensity to sea sickness. As an alternative or in addition to, the Village of Sorrento itself deserves a visit. There are picturesque cobble stone streets and outstanding shops and restaurants. Additionally, it’s much less crowded than Positano.
